Faithful

Here is a lesson about Noah's Ark we made into a matching game.  (I saw the idea on Pinterest, of course!)  We read one of B's favorite flap books about Noah, and then he "spatula-d" the letters off the Cricut mat, colored the ark and helped me cut it out, and matched the animals and put them on the boat.
Coloring the ark. He started to investigate how to peel the paper off the crayons, too.  We might make some melted crayon art with the old ones.

Monday Funday

My mom met Beckett and I at about 8:30 this morning for a trip to Champaign and lunch in Tuscola.  I needed to get a shower gift and go to Sam's for some basics.  Beckett was up late last night and early this morning, so I had a feeling he would be a little sleepy.  I made breakfast at home (his favorite - "potatoes"), we got bundled up, and headed out. He fell asleep on the way, so I ran into Sam's while he and mom stayed cozy in the warm car.

Then we went to Hobby Lobby (Beckett calls it "Holly Bobby"), Barnes and Noble, and Toys R Us.  Beckett got some new books - his favorite! - and we could have spent the entire day there, reading all the books!  As it was, we ready probably 25!

Then we went to Tuscola to meet my bestie, Maria, and her wonderful mom, Cathy, for lunch!  We love this little place in Tuscola called the Soda Shoppe (actually, I can't remember what it's actual name is - HA!).  We've been there a couple of times now, and they have homemade desserts and candy, along with a great menu of lunch items. Beckett picked out gummy bears and a chocolate fish for Daddy.

It was SO good to see Maria and catch up!

When we got home, we took a nice nap!  Then I made dinner and we got out Beckett's new books to read. I also got him a little mailbox for the playroom.  (Melissa and Doug stuff is awesome!)   He wrote a letter to his two Mee Maws and drew a picture for Daddy.  I wrote him a letter and we "mailed" them all.  I think he will have fun with the mailbox because he loves talking about Daddy getting the mail. :)

Now, he's sleeping next to me, all snuggled up!  It was a great day. :)

Bright Starts

Sullivan is the Moultrie County Seat, so we are fortunate to have some county-wide programs offered in town.  One such program is the state-funded Bright Starts program, which is run through the Moultrie County Beacon.  I just completed the paperwork to enroll Beckett, which means he will get developmental screenings completed by a Child Development Specialist, monthly home visits with assessments and co-planning, and a structured playgroup he can attend twice a week in the center.  The playgroup is on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but you can "drop in" any other day for playtime, which is what we did this morning.  I'm thankful for this resource and Beckett really enjoyed himself today!  (We were the only ones there!)

They have a huge outdoor playground, and what did B find right away? Round and round and round!

He went up the steps and found another steering wheel on the second floor.

Love.

He knows (and can say) eyes, nose, and ears.  Mouth is still a little ambiguous.

Worm tunnel!

There are about 15 little tikes cars, and he went directly to this cool black truck.  He LOVED it.

Next up was the little blue sports car.

And then, back to the truck.

He wanted to climb in and out all by himself.

This picture belongs in US Weekly right before he smashes the paparazzi's camera. Haha

Where's my cooler?

Just a little fender bender...

This is the playroom inside.

You can check out any books or toys for use at home.

He loves that kid almost as much as I do.

He quickly found the playtable with the farmer and animals.

He is saying "MMMMMOOO" here.
We had a great time and I'm looking forward to working with Kathy in the Bright Starts program.

Grandma's Goodies

Grandma always brings her little sweet pea some kind of surprise when she visits. He is really starting to light up when she comes into the room - it's so sweet. This week, she brought some new books, which he really liked. She noticed he is drawn to the books with images of real babies, which is definitely the case! We were reading the book she gave him when we got up this morning, and he was so focused! I think he's going to be a reader. :) Thanks, Grandma! (Also, thanks for the yummy chili and lasagna you made the big babies. Delicious. We are spoiled, too!)
