Farm Fun!

Beckett and Shonn had a guys' trip last Saturday. They went to Scheel's, which is basically THE biggest sporting goods store I've ever seen, and then spent the day at the farm. They had a great time, as you can see by the pics! Somehow, halfway through the day, he lost his britches...

Anyway, they had a great day! Beckett loves his dad and grandparents!

7 Months!

This is a week (plus!) late...but guess who's seven months old! This is his first monthly birthday that we haven't taken pics in his Anywhere Chair, bu tyou can still tel he's grown. I love the picture where he's looking at me like, "Yes, mother, I'm seven months. Go ahead and take the picture, please." That was the only picture he sat still for - the rest was all squirmy worm and what-can-I-grab?

Cisco Center

This was Beckett's first Thanksgiving, which means his first Cisco Center Thanksgiving experience. We had (only) 78 people there this year, which is down from the traditional 100+. The Williams family refers to my Grandma's sisters and brothers. (The siblings were Martha, Maggie, Ivan, Gertrude (my grandma) and Edith.) All of their children, which is my mom's generation and her first cousins, plus their children (my generation) and our children (Beckett's generation) attend. It is part family reunion, part Thanksgiving, and it is the only time every year we can count on seeing everyone.

That's Beckett with Aunt Edie...and yes, we are in a gym. We usually hold hands in a circle, count for a total, and then Great Uncle Dave always says a prayer. We all join in at the end and say the Lord's Prayer.

Squirmy Worm

Today I was trying to take pictures of Beckett's new teeth. He is so active and loves squirming all around and reaching for things. These two hobbies made taking the pictures a little difficult. But cute results!

Corn on the Cob

Somebody has two little teeth! As my mom said, "Time to break out the corn on the cob!"

Ear Infection

Sadly, Beckett had his first ear infection. I actually made an appointment because he had a lot of drainage and a chesty cough. I was worried it might turn into pnemonia or something. I also knew it could be a first-time-mom-freaks-out-about-nothing type appointment, but I decided that if it was, I just might give the nurses something to laugh about...and who doesn't like to bring a little laughter into other people's lives? Turns out that it wasn't pnemonia or anything even near the chest area. When Dr. Willett looked into Beckett's (waxy and hairy, as previously coined by the doctor) left ear, he gave a, "Whoa!" and quickly told us it was infected. The sweet little boy hadn't even been crying or fussy with it. Janis said that's how Shonn was when he was a baby, too. So, Dr. Willett prescribed this antibiotic and sent us on our way. (Did I mention he squeezed us in on a Friday afternoon? Very cool of him.) Anyway, Shonn went on and on about how much he liked this kind of medicine when he was little, so I was hoping for Beckett to have his dad's tendencies in this area, too. Not so much, it turns out. When we gave him the first dose of it, I seriously thought he was gagging or drowning or something equally horrible. His little face scruched up and he started coughing and spewing bubble-gum-flavored medicine everywhere. He also started crying. Loudly.

Now, a week later, he still doesn't like it, but we can get it in his mouth without a shower of pink sticky stuff. His drainage is all cleared up and the cough is gone, too. We go back for another visit in a couple weeks.

Chunky Monkey and Friends

Beckett's Halloween Costume Party was a success. Here are a few of the photos Monica took that night. Once again, she did a great job capturing the memories.

Here is our Chunky Monkey.

Trick or treat!

Last night we trick or treated:
-Miss Ingrid
-Miss Anieta
-Tim, Danell and Baby Bennett
-Lilly & Grace
-Grammy & Gramps!

They were all terrified of my fire-breathing beastly dragon. He was actually blowing raspberries instead of fire, though.

Pulling Up!

Beckett is really curious and wants to check everything out! Because of this, he's becoming squirmy and is moving a ton. He's started dragging himself around a little, especially when he has something to push off of with his feet. I'm constantly surprised at how strong he is! Most recently, he's begun pulling himself up when you give him your hands. This isn't the greatest video because I was trying to set the video camera up on the couch, but I almost cried the first time he did this! It's really amazing! It seems like he was just a tiny baby and now he's trying to move on his own! When he pulled up, he was trying so hard, and all of a sudden, his little legs just unfolded and he stood up. I couldn't believe it. So tonight I tried to get it on video. Such a cutie.

Of course, when he realized I was taping it, he thought he'd help himself to a little video camera snack...

My First Halloween

On Saturday for the party, Beckett was a monkey. For trick or treat, he was a dragon. And he got to wear this shirt all day on Monday while he hung out with Grandma Hild.

Happy First Halloween, Baby Beckett!

Great-Grandpa's Birthday Party

On Sunday, we went to Grandpa Hild's birthday party in Forsyth. Shonn's Aunt Susan and Uncle Bryan hosted the party, and all of his dad's brothers and sisters and their families were there. This was the first time Beckett met his second cousins Kate and Cora, who are Henry and Beth's daughters. Here, Beckett is sitting by Kate, who was really sweet to him! She even held him and did a great job. We don't get to see Shonn's extended family very often, so it was really nice to catch up with everyone.
