Last Sunday was Dedication Day at church. It was a beautiful ceremony and Beckett was adorable. He is such a gift and we feel so, so blessed.
Here were the vows we took in front of the whole church:
"Today I commit to Live Christ in my Home.
I promise to love and nurture my child in the same way God loves and nurtures me.
I promise to instruct my child by teaching them and correcting them God’s way.
Today I commit to Live Christ in my Home."
Greg Sexton did the sermon, and he always does an amazing job. He is very organized and relates several passages in the bible to our lives. This message was about parenting, and we kept a copy of the notes for Beckett's baby book. He was given a bible with his picture on the front, a certificate, and a collage of the other babies who were dedicated that day. (There were 13 in all!) When Beckett's picture went up on the screen and they introduced us, everyone "awwwww"d over his bear picture. A gentleman in the front row said, "Oh, that poor kid," and Greg goes, "I'm betting Shonn had nothing to do with that outfit. Christy, where did you find that thing?" He then went on to say, "I've gotta say, Beckett you are looking good! You are the first baby that has ever worn a tie for dedication!" It was really cute. I brought the video camera, and videoed part of the sermon, but forgot to give my friend Heather the camera for when we went up front. I was so disappointed! But the important thing is that Shonn and I made those important vows!
Congratulations, Beckett! What a special day that was! Christy - really? Did you really have a baby? You are so skinny and beautiful! You look great!!
