Sweet, Funny Boy

A few recent funny and sweet phrases from Beckett, before I forget them:

1. Harper crying at nap. Beckett: "She's the grumpy dwarf on Snow White."

2. Lexi trying to get his Teddy Grahams. Beckett says, "No, Lexi!" She does it again. "Lexi, you are going to have a timeout for not listening."

3. "I want to pray for Daddy because he works so hard. And Mee Maw and Papa's camper."

4. While eating breakfast... "One spring day, there was a donut. What's your name, donut? You don't have a name because you're a donut. I'm going to eat you now."

5. While watching Lion King, Timone and Pumba start crying. "They need a paci!"

6. After Nemo... "Why did the diver get Nemo?" I told him because he didn't listen to his Daddy. "That was naughty like Peter Rabbit."

7. While playing with the potato heads, I asked him their names. "They don't have names. They are just the potato heads. These are their babies. (Smaller potato heads) They cry a lot."

I love our funny, sweet, smart boy. He is so sensitive and perceptive. And SO loving. (It melts my heart when he says, "mommy, I want to pray for you.") I'm so lucky!

Nelson Park Adventure

This is the park where Shonn and I got married. 

We had so much fun with Mee Maw and Papa Kracht on Tuesday. First we went to feed the ducks at Lake Decatur. Wow - those are some brave ducks and geese. They wanted to eat right from our hands, which was fun and exciting for Beckett. I wasn't too thrilled about the geese and their hissing. Yowza. They have long dinosaur tongues in their mouths! Beckett wasn't afraid at all! 

Sissy loved the ducks, too. ;)

Then we were of to play on the playground and explore the rock gardens.

Beckett wanted to find a bee. Haha! Then he wanted to find a tiger. See how he's looking in the bush? 

Hot day!

Next we went miniature golfing at Paul's Puttin Place. It was Beckett's first time, and when we explained he had to get the ball in the hole, he looked at us like, okayyyy...well, that's easy... And he picked up the ball and put it in the hole. Hahahahaha!

Sissy thought it was funny, too!

Order Up!

I'm not sure if this is a testament to his verbal skills or the frequency with which he goes out to eat, but Beckett has started ordering his own food when we go to restaurants. It typically goes something like, "I'd like this, this, and this one." Or "i want hamburger, chicken, fries, and drink!" Or, if he's really hungry, "I want all. I NEED it!" The latter was the case on Saturday at Steak & Shake. Then he ate all of his fries and chicken tenders and one of my hamburger sliders. And a drink. ;)

Little ladybug got dressed up for the occasion. You know what they say..."the bigger the bow, the better the momma."

Funny Boy

Beckett was on a roll today! Here are a few of his one-liners:

There's a horse! (Me: Where?) oh, we already passed it.

(Me: There's the thicket!) ooh, I want to take a peek in there.

(Me: what animal would you like to be?) An eagle! I can fly. With you, mommy! We go together in the sky!

I want to swim in the ocean. (We list every sea creature we can think of,) I poke sea anemones. They are squishy.

There's a buggy. I like em.

I chase me! Chase me, mommy!

I'm a T. rex. I'm going to roar sissy.

(Do you need a new diaper?) goodness, no!

(Referencing the librarian) what's her name? (You may ask her, if you'd like.) what's your name? (Mrs. Lane. What's yours?) Beckett James Hild. (Subsequently, to everyone we saw today) What's your name? What's your name?

(While sipping a fruit smoothie) I like smoothies. Mmm. Scrumptious.

I wanna eat cake.

You're my friend, momma.

(And still one of my all-time favorites). Hold you, Momma.

Today's finale, though, was him eating a pickle...in the bath tub.

Snowbunny

We left the hospital in a snow storm on Sunday!  By Monday morning, we had a foot of snow.  The boys decided to play outside and enjoy one more big snow before Spring really arrives.  They made this Snowbunny as a fun way to celebrate the mixing of winter and Easter!

My Little Sister!

Beckett has been the sweetest, most loving big brother I could have ever prayed for.  He loves Harper and is adjusting remarkably well.  I am so thankful!  I can't believe he isn't even 2 yet.  He seems so grown up and big now!

Busy Bee

Mee Maw and Papa Kracht came over this morning for all kinds of fun.  First, we hid buttons in this sparkly stuff and had to find them.  That turned into making some cool wigs!

Then we made some sugar cookie dough and added food coloring for a sugar cookie project we might finish when they come over this afternoon.

Beckett wanted to put his tennis shoes on first thing this morning so he could "Zoom like a cheetah".  Then he ran around the kitchen yelling, "Runs like a Deere! Runs like a Deere!"  It was hilarious.  After a little while, he decided to put Papa's boots on over his shoes.  He told us he was like an elephant on Jungle Book, ("Boom, Boom, Boom.")

 I also read the book Boogie Monster and Beckett and Mee Maw acted out all of the dance moves.  Here, they are dancing like they are riding a bike.

Autographs, Anyone?

Lately, when Beckett is "writing", I'll ask him what he is writing on the paper. He has gotten into saying, "Beckett James Hild" and then writing really small, like he's signing his name.  It's adorable.  I caught a little on video here, and Shonn took a picture of Beckett doing it on Papa Hild's farming desk on Monday.

"Lexi Licking, Mama!"

The other day when I was getting ready, Beckett spilled his cup of milk. He started laughing and said, "Lexi's licking, mama!" I went to get a few paper towels and when I headed back to the bathroom, I heard, "Mmmm! Delicious!" This is what I saw when I got there. Oh dear.

Snow Much Fun!

This morning, Beckett woke up hungry, which really isn't different than any other day, but instead of saying, "Potatoes" when I asked what he wanted, he said, "Pancakes!"  We made pancakes, but to be safe, I still made eggs with sausage and potatoes. He ate it all!  (He also got to put his own sprinkles on the pancakes, as you can see in the picture...)  He's wearing Toy Story PJs from Papa as part of our date night movie. :)

After breakfast, we played with toys and read lots of books.  He wanted to know where Daddy, Papa(s) and Mee Maw(s) were, so we inspected the map. He can say SOOO Falls and 'Dee-ana for Indiana.  

He found his keys from his stocking, so we made a cardboard car with personalized plates for him to use them on.  (This was after he told me, BYE BYE, MOMMY. GOIN TO WORK, and opened the door to the garage to get in "MOMMY'S CAR".)

We took a nice nap. When we woke up, we had lunch and then Beckett spotted the snow!

It was really cold outside, but I told him he could help me get the mail and go down the slide one time.  (He kept saying, SNOW ON SLIDE? FUN!)  It was a blast, even though we were only out for about 5 minutes total, divided into the back yard first and the front yard to the mailbox and back afterwards.  He was fascinated with his gloves, and I am so glad we got to use his snowpants!  He didn't mind getting all bundled up, although everyone I've shown this picture to says he looks like the little boy from The Christmas Story.  Haha!  

We came in and had some yummy hot cocoa to warm up.  He said, "MMM! Delicous!" twice after his first sip.  It was hilarious!

It was another great day of break. Lots of laughing, cuddling, and making memories. I'm so thankful for this time.
